Leadership theories often focus on the leader’s perspective: what they do, how they behave, the traits they exhibit, and so on. But the leaders, themselves, are only one part of the organizational leadership process.  Leaders typically work in teams. Teams are made up of several individuals who have different but complementary skills, and who hold themselves mutually accountable for working towards a common purpose, reaching predetermined performance objectives, and improving interdependent work processes.  When used correctly and for the right purpose, teams can help organizations be more effect and efficient.  This course will examine how work groups can become work teams that effectively and efficiently advance organizational goals.

After completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Differentiate between effective conflict and cognitive conflict.
  • Identify the role of norms, cohesiveness, and conflict on teams.
  • Recognize the five types of team dysfunction.
  • List several ways that leaders establish team performance norms.
  • Recall the relationship between team size and performance.

All materials are included in this course.
